The name Ella, Ellá is wordplay for the French phrase Ella, elle l’a meaning “Ella, she has it” and is, just like France Gall’s single, a tribute to the music who brought the band together; Ella Fitzgerald’s classic versions of evergreens. The quartet was formed 2019 in Malmö by Anna Petersson, Jesse Emmoth, Gabriel Waite and Marcus Karlsson. Our repertoire is based on favorites from the American songbook along with our own compositions in the same spirit. This features soulful vocals, walking bass and an always attending connection to blues and traditional swing.
